E-ZPass is the electronic collection system that makes paying travel fees easy by automatically deducting them from your prepaid account. E-ZPass is accepted at the South Norfolk Jordan Bridge, Downtown Tunnel, Midtown Tunnel, Chesapeake Expressway, Veterans Bridge, Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, Coleman Bridge and in 18 other states from Florida to Maine and west through Illiniois. Apply for a new account online at www.EZPassVA.com or call toll-free #877-762-7824. Vehicles traveling without an E-ZPass are billed at the Pay by Plate rate, and drivers receive an invoice in the mail for their travel fees approximately 30 days after travel. Invoices are mailed via USPS to the address where the vehicle is registered with the Department of Motor Vehicles (note: this may be the leasing company or a military member’s home of record).
