The SNJB has long been a reliable alternative to congestion at the Downtown Tunnel and delays due to a Berkley Bridge lift, but a new bridge in South Norfolk adds another local shortcut in September! The City of Chesapeake is replacing and realigning the 22nd Street Bridge with Poindexter Street which delivers a direct connection between I-264 and the SNJB.
Check out the new bridge location (pink star on map to the left) and connected routing (highlighted in purple) to easily find your way around traffic and travel obstacles in the Downtown Norfolk area. The new facility includes a bicycle lane and sidewalk in both directions and is scheduled to open in September 2020. Read more about the project here.
